Tail Wagging Reviews

Luca

"I loved that you were completely flexible and you came up with really great ideas right on the fly. Your creativity and adaptability led to some really cool and unexpected shots. Luca really seemed to enjoy the process as well. He is usually very shy around new people. You were able to establish a quick rapport with him and I think he truly was happy to pose for you as a result."
Nicole K., Reisterstown MD

Meme

"Watching our two children have fun with their best friend are moments we will always treasure. I look at the photos every day and smile! Knowing one day Meme won't be with us makes the photo session even more special to us."
Michelle P., Sykesville MD

Sckooner

"Sckooner is a very shy guy. My biggest concern was that he would start experiencing anxiety and stress during the shoot. Fortunately Mary was very understanding of the potential problem and took extra steps to build his confidence from start to finish."
Laura C., Baltimore MD

Bella

"Mary was awesome! She was more than accommodating when I contacted her for a session and told her my Bella had been diagnosed with cancer. She made the process so easy and seamless. My favorite part was spending time with Bella outside in the woods which she always loved."
Juliann J., Havre de Grace MD

Bacchus

"I was very relieved that Bacchus wasn't stressed. You brought a calm presence to the photo shoot, which matched what he needed. I liked that you weren't in a rush and that you asked about his favorite toys and places to be. You captured some pictures of him in his favorite spot past the point when I thought the session was over, and I'm thrilled to have them."
Lydia K., Columbia MD

Doug

"Our favorite part of the experience was seeing how happy Doug was during the session. We especially appreciated your flexibility with poses and locations, and felt that you were able to quickly 'get' Doug's personality to capture it on film."
Karen K., Ellicott City MD

Skye, Pearl, & Spirit

"Again and again I say thank you for taking the time to provide such exceptional photos of all the dogs. I know you meet so many wonderful animals and photograph them with such skill and style -- but for me, your excellence did indeed shine through."
Ann G., Baltimore MD

Barley

"Mary not only captured wonderful, invaluable images of our dog, but she also treated us with empathy and thoughtfulness. We contacted her when we found out that our dog had a terminal illness and not much time left. Mary went out of her way to schedule time with us, she was patient and kind, and she turned our products around very quickly. We can't thank her enough."
Ana K., Baltimore MD

Meet the Photographer

Hi, I'm Mary! If you're reading this page, it probably means that we have at least one major thing in common -- our pets are not "just pets," they're true members of the family and we're absolutely crazy about them! One of my favorite things about this job is having the privilege of meeting people who are just as passionate about their pets as I am about mine.

My first foray into photographing pets was years ago when I became a volunteer at a local animal shelter. That was way back when I was still shooting film (and also with a digital camera that used a floppy disk, which I thought was the greatest thing ever, ha!!) -- and while my equipment has definitely changed since then, my enthusiasm for working with shelter pets has not. Rescue efforts will always be near and dear to my heart.

Around that same time, I also earned a degree in Art (emphasis in Photography and Graphic Design) with a minor in Zoology. That might sound like an odd combination, but since I've always been both creatively inclined and completely captivated by members of the animal kingdom, I couldn't choose one or the other -- so I studied both!

Then around 2008, I discovered how rewarding it is to work with individual families to celebrate their pets through photography, and I've been doing that ever since. Like all pet parents, I'm painfully aware of the fact that our pets simply don't have enough time with us. When they leave us, all that we're left with are photos and sweet memories of them -- I love to create both for people.

My work has also been licensed internationally, everywhere from local small businesses and magazines to companies like Chewy, Purina, PetMD, Blue Buffalo and many more.
