Pet Photography FAQ
Where is your studio? I don't operate a studio. If you want formal images of your pet posing in front of fake backdrops with studio lights, then I'm probably not the photographer for you. I prefer to capture more natural, candid images of your furry friends just being themselves. I do all of my pet portraits on location, wherever your pet will be most comfortable. This results in happier pets, which I believe results in better photos!
Do you shoot weddings? I don't shoot weddings, senior portraits, newborns... well, you get the idea. I stick to what I love, which is capturing the spirit, personality and unique charm of our four-legged friends!
Who's the border collie? The beautiful BC you see on the website is our Keira. Several years ago my husband and I adopted her from the Baltimore Humane Society where we volunteer, and she's been a great inspiration to me ever since. Not only is she a patient model for the camera, but she gives awesome kisses and keeps our mischievous cats out of trouble!
How much does a pet photography session cost? Sessions start at $150, which covers up to two pets (add $25 for each additional pet). Prints are purchased separately and are priced according to size. Feel free to email me for a complete price list if you're interested.
Can I be in some of the photos with my pet? Absolutely! I love capturing the bond between pets and their people.
What if my pet is camera-shy? I have a lifetime of experience with dogs and cats, and I've worked with just about every type of personality you could think of. I understand that some pets are nervous around a camera, and I do my best not to stress them out. Usually it just takes patience (and some yummy treats are often helpful, too). The same goes for crazy, nutty, hyperactive dogs (although it definitely helps to exercise them before the shoot!). An average session will last 60-90 minutes, but I will shoot as long as it takes to make sure you have some great images to choose from.
Can I purchase the high-resolution digital files? Sorry, I don't actually sell the copyright to the images. I put a lot of work and care into processing your photos, and I want to ensure that the final prints/products will be the highest quality possible. However, you will receive a CD of low-resolution proofs that is yours to keep.
Why get professional photos? I believe that our pets are members of the family... and if you're reading this, chances are you probably feel the same way! They deserve to have their photos displayed proudly in the home along with the rest of the family photos. My goal is to capture the true essence of your pet, the way you will always remember them, and produce high quality images that you will cherish for many years.
